Again here is a picture of Osios Loukas monastery. During the Greek resistance against the Turkish Empire, the monastery became a source of controversy. In the courtyard, the monks blessed the armament of the local resistance fighters. While for many, this is very controversial, but for the Greeks, it is a point of great prided and national identity. This theme of divine endorsement in times of conflict can be seen repeatedly throughout the Hebrew Bible. One of the most notable citations for me is in the story of Judith. She breaks the observance of the Sabath to defeath the threat to comunity identity from King Nebuchadnezzar.
