Beware of Greeks bearing gifts

Beware of Greeks bearing gifts. This advice was not ignored by the city of Troy, and just look at how it turned out for them! Unfortunately, or not depending on which perspective you take on it, I fell victim to the gift of a Greek as well.

As yesterday was our last day in Greece, shopping was at the top of the agenda. Can't come home without souvenirs!

In the main tourist shopping area I purchased a few gifts and some souvenirs for myself and decided that I was done with my shopping for the trip. However, one member of my group wanted to stop by a chocolate shop to purchase treats for his nieces and nephews. So we walked to a more chocolate-friendly part of town and found a chocolate shop that looked promising.

My groupmate purchased a couple of boxes of assorted chocolate and another group member purchased a box for a gift as well. While the sales woman was packing up these boxes, she gave each member of our group a small candy bar to enjoy just for coming in to the store. I had not planned on buying any chocolate, but after tasting the most amazing chocolate bar I've ever had, I excitedly purchased a box for myself, as did other members of my group.

The moral of this story is, if you want to save your last few euros, beware of Greeks bearing chocolate.
