first impressions

Anonymous One of the highlights of my day so far has been chatting with our neighbor. When we arrived at our apartment in Athens (which I adore!) we opened up the doors onto the balconies to let the air flow through. Off our balcony, I saw small garden boxes, a skinny street packed with parked motos and cars, and a few people meandering. Then I looked across from our balcony and saw an older man, playing some kind of board game, with his patio doors opened up. He looked my way and stood up and greeted me, so I replied to him, shyly, with a formal "yeia sas" and he kindly asked me where I was from. We conversed briefly by shouting from our balconies, and we finished our chat by him welcoming me to his beautiful country, Greece. I am really happy to be here!
