We are here in the city of Athens for two weeks and the island of Rhodes for another week; class is approximately between two and a half to three and a half hours long. This leaves a lot of time to do whatever it is you please in the city. Whether that be exploring, shopping, sitting, lounging, dining, or sightseeing there is always adventure to be had in the city. There is so much in the city that can be accessed within an hour walk of our apartments here. Back where I'm from in Washington there are no where near the ease of walking access to places that there are here in Athens. There are parts of big cities like Seattle where there is a lull and there may be a spot that is quite open. In Athens once you're in the city you are definitely in the city.
I can only imagine what it would be like to own a motorcycle or small car here in the city so you can easily ride and see what is around you in a short period of time By the way, the motorcycle culture here in Greece is amazing. I am a hardcore motorcycle enthusiast and amateur racer in my spare time. I have never seen so many awesome bikes in one small population. There are mopeds and scooters and adventure bikes and dual sport bikes and street bikes and cafe racers and cruisers and touring bikes and race bikes and super-moto bikes and street fighter bikes and choppers and smaller Harley bikes. I feel like I can connect with the people here on a common understanding of something. The Greeks are very proud of their mopeds and scooters unlike Americans; they even do them up nice with aftermarket parts that no one does back home. I might not be able to speak the language but I can point to a guys bike give him the thumbs up and him seeing my racing hat do the same.
