Incredible Sights, Great Company

Yesterday was just amazing. That is the only way I can describe it. I think my chin was dragging across the floor the whole time we were at the archeological museum. The beauty and history of all the pieces were incredible. Especially the Egyptian section: heirogliphics, jewlery, tools and actual mummies of a cat, crocodile and a person! Truly incredible. The whole time walking through this exhibit I was thinking about my favorite teacher in elementary school, Bobby Frankel. She was my art and challenge teacher as well as a good family friend. Bobby loved ancient Egypt; she fascinated us with stories about their lifestyle and taught us about Egyptian art and how we could create it ourselves. I felt more of an appreciaiton for the things I was seeing because of her.

Later in the day we headed down to the beach, by tram. What an experience. While waiting for the tram to arrive a flash mob cranked up a catchy tune and started dancing all around the platform. Hilarious. As soon as the song ended they were gone as quickly as they came. We then boarded the tram and took the 45 minute or so ride down to the water side. The views there were another breathtaking moment; the beach made up of small, smooth, light colored stones, the calm blue water, blue sky filled with sunshine and the faint mountains in the background. It reminded me of home.

After enjoying the rich red and orange sunset we headed to a water side cafe and had a decadent desert...before dinner of course! We then took the tram back into the city and sat outside of a quaint cafe with the most spectacular views of the Acropolis and had a real dinner and once again enjoyed great conversation. A very relaxing ending to a busy but wonderful day.
