The first day trip here in Greece was great! We went to the mountain area of Greece and saw a whole different landscape. The mountains and terrain were beautiful and peaceful. Not only did we go to another city, but to another time. Our first stop was at a picturesque monastery that was more than 1,000 years old. Walking through and realizing how long ago the building stood was enlightening in the historical sense and its ability to put you in perspective. The views and structures were the kind you could just sit and take in for hours.
After that we went to our main destination of Delphi, known for its oracle. I loved the walk up because the further you went the more rewarding it became, until after one by one passing the treasuries and temple you take in this incredible place from the top. From the view point up behind the theater is where the time wrap really hit. Standing there I tried to visualize the area finshed, what the temple of Apollo and treasuries would look like in their totality from the people who had once been there using it. All I have to say was it was impresive, this neat little city made of elegant marble tucked away between these wonderful mountains. So out of place with the white stone and mountain terrain, yet I think no where else would have been as perfect.
