Today i visited the Mediterranean Coast, and what a beautiful site it was. But something i can't comprehend is the Greeks idea of cold versus hot. Today, while at the beach, most people walking along the side walk were in full winter coats and no one seemed to be near the water. After my colleagues and i wondered on down t the water itself, we discovered that it was fairly warm, and we all felt we would have no problem swimming in it. We felt it has to do with something in the American Northwesterner gene pool. Something that shuts down part of the brain and makes a Northwesterner say "i know it 55 degrees outside today, with a partial overcast, but it looks like a perfect day for sun tanning." I feel as though the Greeks on the other hand, don't go anywhere near the water unless it is at least a 90 degree day, and the sun is beating down on the Mediterranean. Granted this is all a hypothesis, but i hope science can one day prove my theory of Norhtwesterners versus Greeks and their mental temperature levels.
