Opposition or adaptation

While in Athens, i have had to adapt to there style of coffee, and how they treat there coffee shops in comparison to America. That is, in America you can buy a cup of coffee and have it in your hands and be out the door in less than 5 minutes. Here in Greece, all coffee (that i have seen so far) is served at a cafe, where they take there time making the coffee for you, and you usually take your time drinking it.
In all honestly, i rather prefer this adaptation in this new country. It allows the consumer to enjoy the coffee itself, and really be able to taste the work of each barista. I feel it is considered a true craft to make a good cup of Greek coffee in Greece, and the culture setting really allows for the consumer to enjoy each professionals personal twist on your cup of coffee.
One thing that i do oppose in Greece, and do not want to take back the states is the views on serving water in restaurants. Every time we're in a restaurant, if you want water, the bring you a one and half liter bottle. So far in my experience, nothing has been served from the tap. I feel that this is very wasteful to the environment, especially when the city of Athens has "normal" tasting water. This is one adaptation that i oppose and will not be taking their customs back to the states.
