Remember the Titans

The key word to this phrase to me is remember, meaning do not forget, keep the memory with you. In the classic movie, it is remember the team, the victory, loss, story, and moral. With the class reading of the gods, it is to remember the gods' actions in relation to you, current times, and the faith. However the word remember struck me most today when touring the cemetery. What better word is there for a cemetery, than remember? Remember that I lived, remember that I died, remember what I did, who I was, that I loved you and you loved me. Cemeteries are about keeping the memory of those who have passed. We give them a tombstone, or a doric temple of Troy atop a gravesite, to to keep their memory, and for others to see and remember as well. Grave sites are made not just out of duty and last wishes, but to honor the memory. Return visits are done to keep the memory alive. Walking through the cemetery today was moving as we passed those sites taken care of and those run down; frankly forgotten. Without active remembrance lessons are forgotten, gods are forgotten, and people are forgotten. Remember the Titans is a wonderful movie, so remember the good and funny parts but keep in mind to remember the more important and some times more serious parts of life as well.
