Robert the Greek

Becoming Greek has been an experience i will never forget. Well i actually stick out like an American in Greece like a Michael Phelps would stick out competing in a high school swim tournament. But it has been the introduction into the Greek culture by the locals that makes me feel as though i were a Greek. Even in my few short days so far on the island Rhodes, and my adventure to island of Simi yesterday, i have been treated as if i knew the Greek culture. If i asked questions, locals did there best to communicate with me so i could better understand. One of the most exciting experiences in learning to be Greek was meeting Dr. Finitsis mother, and her helping me to be as Greek as possible. Every morning she has made sure i have some sort of honey with my food. And she has come up to me and made sure i have it. Although she can not speak a word of English, and i can only speak a few phrases of Greek, she makes sure i understand what i need. It has been a high point of my adventure.
In the end i will never technically be a Greek. But i feel as though the locals want me to understand their culture, and the more i understand the more they see me as "Robert the Greek."
