Its amazing how you can research a place and be completely thrown off when you get there. Today we went to Mystras a small village outside of Sparta. It was my job, along with my group, to research the area and tell the rest of the class what was to be expected. I did my homework on this place and was feeling confident in the information I gave to the rest of the group but once we got there it was a completely different story. The views were amazing, the ruins spectacular and the hike to the top...well...it was worth it once we finally made it there! The one thing that I kept reading about Mystras were the wonderfuly preserved frescoes from the Byzantine empire; I thought they would be nice, something cool to see but I was mistaken. They were so much more. I was blown away that the vibrance of the color and detail of a great portion of them were still in tact. Today was yet another great experience here in Greece one that words can't possibly describe. Now its off to packing! Goodbye Athens...HELLO RHODES!!!
