I saw the painting, La muchacha en la ventana//girl at the window, a work of Salvador Dalí, for the first time only a few months ago. It quickly captured my heart, and has remained there for some time. Pictured is Dalí's younger sister, Ana María. Painted in 1925.
Sister of famous artist. Friend of Federico García Lorca. Loyalty-abandoner. Lost in the Mediterranean. Or maybe found? Luxiorious curls. Summer vacation home. Curved posture. Natural. Beautiful. Human. Youthful. What is your story, Ana María?
"And I return once more, and always, to the central balcony window, and I lean out over the sea, and on this sea, which is now gray- darkness is falling- the lights shine warm and tremulously, it is a sea with a thousand boats, with enormous, motionless, resplendent ocean liners, with buzzing super-fast motorboats overtaking and chasing each other on the waves." (a passage from "El mismo mar de todos los veranos" by Esther Tusquets, p. 21)
Foreigner. Daughter, sister, lover. maybe someday mother. City apartment. Loud, shrilling. Warm.
