Beware of Gifts from Greeks

As we depart from Greece in about 12 hours, there are a few things that I want to share that I have learned while being over here…
·      Greeks talk very loudly and boisterously, and it is amazing
·      Greeks always smile and enjoy life no matter what
·      The strikes are planned so that the weekend isn’t ruined
·      For 3 weeks, sleep is minimal, 5-6 hours max a night.
·      You do not want to be the only one who doesn’t eat Greek food, because if you all eat it, then no one notices your horrible smelling breath
·      Greek coffee can not only tell your future, but it can also give you that extra jump start in the morning that makes you want to have a future
·      You want to marry a girl with a small dowry, even if her family is rich
·      The metro system is a gift sent to us directly from God after we endured 2 weeks of death marches around Athens
·      If you are unable to say what you are ordering, it is probably the best thing on the menu, but when in doubt order a Gyro for 2 Euros you can go wrong.
·      Hiking up to the tallest peak where ever you are will forever give you the bet view of Greece, even if you have to walk on goat paths to get you there.
·      Ouzo is only good after you ate a meal that might have given you food poisoning
·      Late nights in the café with good friends, good coffee, a few drinks, and some crepes are the best ones
·      Getting lost in Greece is when you find the best things about Greece
·      The Mediterranean Sea is always welcoming, it is like a hot tub compared to the Pacific
·      All of the animals in Greece are friendly to us, cats, dogs, goats, donkeys…you name it they love us.
·      When are on a plane flying from Greece back to America, and you hear crying, it is not a baby, it is us.
·      If you are allowed 2 carry ones and only one checked bag that weighs less than 50lbs know that the two carry ones will weigh more than 50 lbs combined
·      Getting the see the Acropolis from any point in the city of Athens can never get old
·      I am coming back to Greece.
