Beware of Greeks Bearing Gifts

So first, I am editing this post because I realized that today two days after I post this it did not actually post!!! For those of you who notice when trying to read it and saw nothing, my apologies. Though I will let you now read my actual blog, I first want to say "Beware of the Internet, sometimes it lies...."

Greeks and Gifts. Hmm, I feel like asking why is this a bad thing? Its Greeks=wonderful, and gifts=wonderful, where can you go wrong? Especially since what I think of first for this phrase is the fact that as I come home from Greece I am bearing gifts. Now I realize for the Trojans it didn't go so well, but for my modern day experience and since I don't live in Troy, I'm gonna say bring on the gifts. I know that many times things are not what they seem and the trust of two good things can easily be manipulated and especially by those who know they have the power of that trust. For instance on this trip we have all had to be on alert for those vendors or Greeks who offer things that are too good to be true. Such as free wine, dessert, appetizers, you name it but it costs to sit, leave etc. So it is very true that gifts can be dangerous and come with attachments, and so yes you must "beware". However I don't think it is just beware of Greeks, I think the phrase should say "beware of intentions connected to gifts". All of us have been in situations where there are strings attached to gifts, whether we have been aware of those strings or not is the difference. And so going home bearing gifts from Greece I hope my family is not weary as I only have good intentions of spreading happiness no strings attached.
