children of light, children of darkness...

Every time I have been out to a café late at night, I always think that something like this would be great in the states, especially somewhere in the city like Seattle. A large open space, covered on top with sides that can go up or down, almost like a tent but with more stability. Then fill this area with over stuffed couches, smaller round tables, dim light, eclectic decorations and these propane heaters that look like street lamps and if placed every couple of yards or so, keep the inside of the room very warm on cold, windy rainy night, that Greece occasionally gets, but that Seattle is known for. Then, here they serve snack and dessert like food, specialty coffees, and drinks, which if altering the menu a bit for the local tastes of Seattle would be a great menu option. Then with these café bars could be placed all over the city, from super busy areas to more laid back streets. The times that I have been in these cafes, it is always a bit different on the location and the groups of people. But they are always busy. Plus, being a business major, I cant help but always try to think of ideas that would be something different for the area I am from and something that would also have potential to be successful.

A restaurant like this, where the lights shine brightly from the windows, the hum of people staying out late, enjoying a few drinks, some food, good company and conversation would illuminate the dark streets. Restaurants like this in Greece bring joy and happiness to the streets and to the people. When you walk by, you can’t help but feel that energy as it leaks out of the cafes and spills out on to the sidewalks and passersby. This same energy this same joy, and this same style of restaurant would bring a change to the looks of downtown Seattle’s restaurant areas but also, possibly to the people. The people of Athens look so happy and t content when they are in a café. They smile, talk loudly, laugh and stay till the wee hours of the morning doing so and this ability to sit and stay in one place all night, eat and drink, and be with people you enjoy could bring a new light to Seattle. People in Seattle are already laid back, enjoy the out doors, a good restaurant and drink but to be able to combined the outdoors, like the feeling of sitting around a fire, without the smoke and in big comfy furniture, with the love of friends and food could really blow up big in the states. A bit of Athens in Seattle would be a great combo and even though this is just an idea I like to think about and chat about with my fellow classmate, who knows where an idea like this could take us.
