Choose Wisdom

When you think wisdom many of us think about what is passed down from your father and through the generations; in a sense you're right. What you don't always think of is the direct asking of wisdom from God the "father". Today we learned that in the apocryphal writings in Wisdom of Solomon that wisdom is always the way, the truth, and the light into eternal salvation rather than damnation. I was quite confused with this at first because I have seen "wisdom" used for many things to cause destruction, hate, and terror in the world. I asked Finitsis how this can be because it was wisdom, cunning, and resolve that are usually used to act out intricate acts of malice. He filled me in with a simple explanation that it is not wisdom. Asking, listening, and carefully using wisdom is a choice and the choice to do good and be wise with whatever you might do in the world.

I pondered a long time about what he had said and how I reacted to what he had to say. I now know what he and the author of Wisdom of Solomon are saying, and that is that a "wise" man is inherently good because he is listening to the female personification of wisdom that now is called the holy spirit in the Christian faith. God is good and if you listen to what he has to say and follow the wisdom from God that is transferred to you through the holy spirit that you can do no wrong. One, God is good; two, I am relayed a message in what to do (wisdom); three, I am doing good in listening to God; whatever he might say. The people that do bad are really not wise or using wisdom because they are not listening to God; not wisdom. The question that has sparked the conflicts as far back as we can remember is that the other side that is doing evil thinks that they are doing good and using their divine wisdom as well in some cases. We now can see with this literature that any faith can make the stance that they are using divine wisdom and are doing good in the world. Are they doing good? Are we doing good? Are we all right? Are we all wrong? What determines that is your faith and your faith alone can determine what you believe and who you listen to.
