Some people may think that wisdom and love do not go hand in hand. That to be in love, you must be out of your mind, entranced by someone else, your life totally focused around them, and that is not wise by any means.
But here in Greece, this idea of love and wisdom are one in the same.
When I see couples walking down the street, together at a restaurant, or even in the car, you can tell that it is more than just pure infatuation and lust involved in their connection. They have this spirit about them that illuminates brightly from them, like the smiles on their faces. They look as though they are truly enjoying one another, that nothing could come between them. They walk in the streets arms linked, they ride on motorcycles so close that not even the smallest spec could get between them. But it is not just their vicinity to one another that brings out their love, but their faces shine and their overall demeanor is vibrant, like nothing could separate them, not time nor space or even God himself could ever disconnect them.
Their love is more than just a silly romance, but it is precious and pure. And like wisdom, they have a deep understanding of not only the other person, but themselves, and themselves with that person. Everything around them makes sense and that what is true and right, is in their action of loving each other. Like the bible suggests people must find and seek wisdom and that there is so much wisdom, that no matter how far you search you will never be able to attain it all. But the lovers in Greece find and seek wisdom together, they look as though they are in a united journey and that their deeper search for greater wisdom joins them closer. They may not have it all, but in their content manner you would think that they do.
It is in their eyes, in their faces, in their body, it is everywhere they are. From Athens to Rhodes to everywhere in between, the couples here seem to be more than just in love, they seem to have God on their side, wisdom in their soul, and love in their hearts.
