After some rough nights spent tossing and turning without sleep, I think I have finally defeated jet lag. I've never had such a bad experience with jet lag before, but I guess each trip is different. Either way, by today I was finally feeling recharged and ready to see everything Athens has to offer. I was feeling like I could take on the world as I walked around the Plaka. An afternoon rainstorm had left the city calm and deserted and the whole area felt peaceful as I strolled around, taking pictures of the Acropolis and casually shopping for souvenirs. Later we took the cable car up one of the hills and sat at a cafe overlooking all of Athens. The view was absolutely breathtaking. Today it's finally hit me that I am in Greece, a country I have dreamed of visiting for years and whose history has enchanted me ever since a mythology class in high school. Now I just need to remember to take enough pictures so that I can always remember this fantastic opportunity.
