This is Sparta!

After our very eventful day in Mistra, we went to a nearby town for a late lunch.  We enjoyed a nice meal.  I ate the lamb with orzo.  It was quite tasty but extremely filling.  I could only eat about half of my plate.  And I know what you're all thinking, "How is that different from the way you usually eat?"  Well, this trip has brought out my massive eating habits.  It's probably all the walking, but I'd like to think that I"m just becoming capable of eating a normal portion :)  Anyways, after our dinner we got some gelato.  My goodness was I excited!!! I'd just been obsessing over gelato at the dinner table and then Dr. Finitsis told us that's where we were headed for dessert.  We all shared back and forth, curious to see what the others got.  Some of us ate all of ours no problem (like me), and others just couldn't stomach all the sugar.  Either way, the gelato was extremely enjoyed by all!!

As we headed by to the bus I made what I thought was a nice comment. "This is a cute little town."  Dr. Finitsis turns around and says to me in complete seriousness, "This is Sparta."  I could not contain my laughter.  I expected him to say something extremely historical and profound, sending me into a fit of excitement over hearing a story about a town that I probably wouldn't remember later, but I would enjoy nonetheless.  But, no.  This is Sparta came out of his mouth.  Though I've never seen 300, I know the joke and it is funny all the same.  We then put on our tourist caps and took a picture by the famous statue and made a video of the class yelling "This is Sparta!!!!" Right after I said my cutesy line about the quaint town, of course.

As it is our last day in Athens, I felt like this was such a grand and wonderful day.  Though we didn't spend it here in the city, we explored and did so many awesome things.  I'd say, "I don't know how it can get any better."  But every time I've said that on this trip, it's ended up getting better.  So, this time, I'm just gonna sit back and let it get better :)
