This is Sparta!

"This is Sparta!" yelled a passerby in a truck as we were taking pictures by the statue of Leonidas in Sparti this afternoon. Whether this was a welcoming joke or meant to make fun of us, it made me smile. I've commented before how I live in a tourist town and was just thinking about how hard I would laugh if I saw a group of people yelling "This is Sparta!" if I lived here. Either way, it was a very cheerful time, the people were friendly, and I absolutely loved the town.
A very cool moment for me today was visiting the Church named for Saint Sophia in Mistras. I have a 16 month old niece named Sophia. While I was taking pictures of the church, I was thinking about how someday I would show her these pictures and talk about the meaning of her name. It caused me to realize that no matter how much this experience impacts my life, it will impact others' as well. I just need to be sure and share my experie
nces like I am now! This is a time I will remember for the rest of my life, and it is so important to share experiences and inspire those younger than us, like my niece, to take every opportunity they can for amazing experiences!
