All Was Well

Lately, I seem to be taking a lot of phrases from books and inserting them into my blog entries. I'm not sure why this is. I think it may be because as my time in Greece winds down, I'm starting to feel sentimental. And when I feel sentimental, I think about all the phrases and quotes that encompass how I'm feeling. Maybe some of you caught my last reference to a certain novel that happens to be one of my favorites. The title of tonight's blog topic is a little more obvious. Harry Potter fanatics will recognize it as the final line from the final book of the series. All was well.

Tonight we wrapped up our time on the island of Rhodes. We decided to send things off right, spending time at a couple of different cafes, eating, drinking and laughing together. It was a great reminder that although much of the trip has been spent poring over books, deciphering lecture notes and trying to piece together a final paper, our time in Greece has still been one full of breathtaking moments and life changing experiences. Over the past three weeks I've grown as an individual, team member and student. This, to me, is worth the money and time my family and I have dedicated to this trip.

Tomorrow we head for Athens. Less than 24 hours after we arrive, it's back to the airport for the long haul home. I'm sad to be leaving Greece, and I want so badly to come back again, but at the same time I'm glad to be going home. A couple of nights in my own bed, with some home cooked food and my family, is just what I need before we all jump into spring semester. So tonight I am feeling fairly content. One foot still firmly planted in Greece, the other foot moving toward the door. As I sat at the cafe tonight looking out across the Mediterranean Sea, I knew all was well.
