Beware of Greeks Bearing Gifts

Greece has been an amazing experience. What's always hard for me is making the transition back to normal life back in the states. Just a few short weeks ago we were all amazed at how much we've done in such a short amount of time. Now that we're in the waning hours of the trip, we reflected tonight on how fast our time in Greece has gone.

Our flight leaves very early in the morning so we decided to stay up all night, find a cafe with a view of the Acropolis and sit down to enjoy each other's company once more. It was a fine way to cap off this trip. After three weeks in Greece, we've built relationships with one another and made lasting memories that we can share together again and again. During this time we've had wonderful guidance from professors who encouraged us to be self-reflective and engage the community of which we're guests in.

I talked about J-term earlier this month as a social experiment. Take a group of very young and diverse college students and throw them into a foreign country. Let's see what happens when they share the many surprises and obstacles that come with meeting a different culture and possibly a little bit of culture shock. I would say this group has made positive strides and much success in building a cohesive group. It will be bittersweet coming home and for everyone to go their seperate ways from the airport. We talked last night about the first things we're going to do when we get back. I'm going to Coldstone...then I'm going to go kiss my girlfriend!

To the "People!" reading this entry, thank you for such an amazing trip to Greece. Some people wait all their lives to experience what we did...and I wouldn't have done it with any other group of people. I propose we come together again in the near future and eat lots of Greek food and have lots of laughs!

I hope this trip has sparked the travel bug for those reading our entries. Thank you for following us. Now its time to stop living vicariously through these journals and go on your own adventure! Happy travels and be safe out there! Cheers everyone!
