People!

Last night, Athens seemed to turn into the Pacific Northwest. A Medeateranian storm swept in and attempted to make us feel right at home by raining quite heavily for on and off. Instead of running around Athens in the rain in an attempt to reach the club scenes, a group of us sat outside a bar/coffee house. There we lounged on couches and under covered awnings and heat lamps until a time that would not be completely unreasonable to wake up at. After a late start today, the plan was to meet at the Acropolis and tour the ancient ruins, but we were delayed by the accumulation of classic and exotic cars in the marble square at the mouth of the Olympic Stadium. I found this to be incredibly entertaining. Not just because of the volume and quality of the machines there, but because of the location and situation... Somewhere north of fifty maintained, detailed, and gorgeous cars situated against the Olympic Stadium as a back drop and the Acropolis looming on its hilltop in the distance with the Beach Boys playing over loud speaker. To top it off, two men in long, black, monastic garb (I assume that they were Orthodox monks but I am not sure as most Sunday liturgies would have finished only one or two hours before) were walking through the show, stopping to appreciate the cars, asking the owners various questions, and requesting to see automobiles inner-workings. Unfortunately, I did not get pictures of this as my camera died after a disappointing battery performance
